11141391 Saints Nicholas Tavelic and Companions Martyrs
On November 14, 1391, Saints Nicholas Tavelic and his three Franciscan companions—Deodatus Aribert of France, Peter of Narbonne of France, and Stephen of Cuneo of Italy—were martyred in Jerusalem. They were beheaded after being tortured for publicly preaching the Gospel to Muslims, refusing to renounce their faith when ordered to do so. The Catholic Church canonized them in 1970, and their feast day is celebrated annually on November 14.
