Medal of the 3 Wise Men and the Prayer of Saint Francis

This medallion pendant displays a specific part of the Nativity scene, showing only the image of the 3 Wise Men. This is not the full image since the offering of the gifts was to the Holy Child (not depicted in this medal) after the men of orient followed Christmas star which came by a final stop on Bethlehem.

This scene is on the front of the medal, while the engraving of the the simple Prayer of St. Francis is on reverse.

The mark on the lower right side is a small stylized "F", which it is believed to represent the Franklin Mint brand.

Franklin Mint and Danbury started doing Christmas medals and in some cases, cards with medals, back in the 1970s. Some of them have continuous issue, on an annual basis. Since there are no records available for this medal, it may an earlier model, released before this well-known brand became popular.

Just as soon as the Holidays surrounding the Birth of Christ (Christmas octave) are over, the King's Day festivities, begin. They are also known as the three wise men from Orient.
