Vision of St Francis by Giuseppe Nicola Nasini


"Vision of Saint Francis" is a work by master Giuseppe Nicola Nasini that once is a part of a cycle of five devotional canvases by Giuseppe Nicola Nasini, commissioned by Cosimo III de' Medici and delivered to the Sacro Convento di Assisi in January 1696. While the exact creation date isn’t explicitly stated, the cycle is dated to around 1695, and the donation took place in early 1696.

This series also included another work titled "Francis Throws Himself on Thorns" or "Francis Drives Away the Thorns."

Giuseppe Nicola Nasini was commissioned part of a fresco cycle commissioned from Nasini for the Basilica of Saint Francis in Assisi. Being dedicated to the life of Saint Francis, the work is part of the story of the saint, depicting a moment in his life.
