Father Pios incorrupt body
Padre Pio died on September 23, 1968, at 82, presenting the stigmata, the wounds of Christ.
In 2008, after the exhumation of the body, it was reported that his face was partially decomposed, covered by a silicone mask.
No ecclesial authority has ever declared that his body is miraculously uncorrupted, however, millions of faithful believe in it.
Nazzareno Gabrielli, expert of the Vicariate of Rome for the conservation of saints and biochemist at the service of the Holy See, reported:
The facial skin still exists
He still had ears and lips
He had a beard and mustache
He had no eyes or nose
The head, body, and hip are in good condition.
The lower limbs are damaged
Surprising, the body did not present any smells corresponding to the decomposition of human remains
Padre Pio was a holy man who led a life of intense suffering. He also manifested various extraordinary gifts and performed many miracles, so it is not necessary, for his devotion, that his body mantains an uncorrupted state.
Was he buried with a silicone mask on?
ReplyDeleteI believe the silicone mask was added after they exhumed his body. They would not know whether his body would be incorrupt or not. Right now his body not buried anymore. It's in a glass case just like in the picture. Like so many other incorrupt saints.
