June Month for Franciscan Vocations

June, Vocation Awareness Month

Together, the Franciscan Orders devote the month of June as Franciscan Vocation Month, a month for Vocational Promotion.
This opportunity allow us to perform campaigns for our vocations and encourage young men, women, married, widowed and diocesan priest to join us in serving the Lord through the Franciscan Way of Life.
Specially during this month of June, we join in pray, asking God for more Francisca brothers and sisters in our fraternities.

But, why is June the month for Vocational Promotion?

This is because Saint Anthony of Padua is celebrated on June 13, who was the first Priest admitted to the Franciscan Order.
This Patron Saint of things that are lost, intercedes for those who are looking for their vocation

Within the Franciscan order, he dedicated himself to theological formation of his religious brothers, this under the authority that Saint Francis gave him in that very short and enriching letter, which gives much merit, since Saint Francis believed more in a spiritual life than in a theological training. But the admiration for San Antonio was such that he called him "Fray Antonio my bishop".

Saint Anthony is a clear example of how you can live both a spiritual vocation, as well as one of study and preaching. A prodigious man in preaching and who, with Franciscan guidance, lives such a high spiritual life that the miracles that have been attributed to him are innumerable.
"To fray Antonio, my bishop, brother Francisco, greetings. I like that you teach sacred theology to the brothers, provided that, in the study of it, you do not quench the spirit of prayer and devotion, as contained in the Rule ". Letter from Saint Francis of Assisi to Saint Anthony of Padua.

Saint Anthony, example of vocational integrity, Patron of Franciscan Vocations.
