Illustrations by Dino Battaglia

Español

Born in Venice, Italy, Battaglia first entered the comic book profession in 1946. He worked with other Venetian artists, during the 1970s Battaglia produced a series of religious works for Il Messaggero dei Ragazzi and Il Giornalino, including the biographies of Antonio da Padova and Frate Francesco. The latter would be one of the most important works.

With a skillful pen, Battaglia produced a poetic book entitled Frate Francesco e i suoi Fioretti for the Edizioni Messagero of Padua. His illustrations depict a Saint Francis immersed in his spirituality.

Assisi in particular, as well as various parts of medieval Umbria, are portrayed in his drawings, in both cold and warm tones, with realism.
