Franciscan Devotion to Saint Joseph
In 1263 Saint Bonaventure, who was Minister General, proclaimed Saint Joseph the model of consecration of the Friars and protector of the Order.
In the General Chapter of 1399, the Solemn Feast of Saint Joseph was introduced into the Franciscan Breviary.
In 1476 Franciscan Pope Sixtus IV established the Feast of Saint Joseph on March 19 of each year.
