Jesus Christ and Our Lady of Sorrows with Saint Francis John and Mary Magdalene Unknown author from the Spanish school, XVII century.

This work depicts the final moments of Jesus on the Cross. With his eyes still open, he directs his final words to her mother, our Lady of Sorrows, and his beloved disciple, John. Saint Mary Magdalene faints in disbelieve, as she reaches towards the Blessed Virgin Mary. On the left side, saint Francis reaching towards the Holy Cross. He is the only figure who is able to touch it, considering he is the one who shared our Lord's passion at the time he received the stigmatta.
