The Bolognese painter Francesco Francia depicted the Blessed Virgin Mary holding the Holy Child, while behind here the figures of Saint Francis of Assisi, and Anthony of Padua behold the enfant. There is a exquisite work on the fabric of the tunics in both the saints and the Virgin, as well on their gaze.
The predominant color is a deep green on Mary's mantle, with a beautiful detailed gold trim on the edges.
Francesco Francia painted Saint Francis of Assisi on numerous occasions, both with other figures and alone.
