Benedict XV
Our Secular Franciscan Order celebrates today, January 22, the loving memory of Pope Benedict XV, Franciscan Tertiary.
His Holiness told us:
"We believe that the spirit of the third order is exhaling the most sweet perfume of the gospel, and that it can contribute a great deal to the reform of private and public customs, provided that the same spirit is spread as pure and flourishing as in the time that Francis preached everywhere by example and with a loud voice. Saint Francis is the most perfect image of our Lord Jesus Christ that has ever existed. "
Benedict XV returned to his father's house on January 22, 1922.
