Holy Trinity

Holy Trinity with St. Benedict, St. Francis, St. Bartholomew and St. John the Baptist, by master Neri di Bicci, in 1461. You can find this work at the Novitiate, corridor in Santa Croce, Florence, Italy.

The mystery of the Trinity, the only and true God who displays his power in three different persons, Father, Son and Spirit, is comparable to water, capable of interacting with its surroundings and modeling it, building and demolishing, eroding and transforming mountains in plateaus, plateaus in plains and plains in canyons. Water is very versatile to interact with its surroundings. Being inert in itself favors life extraordinarily, just like the only invisible God, who is apparently distant, indifferent, non-existent. Water can manifest itself in three states: solid, liquid and gaseous, each with very different properties, which agrees with the three personalities of the one God.
