Franciscan Vocational Awareness
Truthfully, vocational promotion brings new members to the order and to the fraternity; contributes to the corporate or institutional consolidation of the community itself. But this can never be our first aim or objective. The Church can never be a self-centered entity that serves itself, that functions in relation to its own interest and benefit. Rather, its only reason for being is the service of the reign of God, of His glory, of evangelization and conversion of human beings to Him.
The peculiarity of our vocational promotion is that, as a Franciscan, it postulates a specific perception of Christianity, of the Gospel, that is, the spiritual path of Saint Francis of Assisi, his teaching of wisdom and example of life; endorsed by the Church that canonized him and approved the Orders founded by him or that follow him.
FRANCISCAN VOCATION
This vocation can be experienced as intimately personal by any Catholic who is in tune with the Franciscan charism; that, after meeting him, he is receiving from God, from the Spirit, indications of this vocation. The first aim of the divine call is oriented to the most intimate familiarity with Jesus Christ. The charism or peculiar path of Franciscanism is called, to please God in the way that Francis did, to be fully realized in such a way. Like the call to faith, also the one that guides us towards this path, arises from hearing the word of God: "Faith comes from hearing the word of God, and hearing, that it is announced" ( Ro 10,17). At this point lies the role of vocation promotion; she provides the announcement, the communication of the word that the brother may require to opt for his follow-up.
