Immaculate heart of Mary
The Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is celebrated the day after the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This celebration of the Catholic Church commemorates the Virgin Mary's pure love for God, her purity of heart, and her motherhood, and is traditionally celebrated the day after the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Pope Pius XII established this feast in 1944 to pray for peace, freedom for the Church, and the conversion of sinners through the intercession of the Mother of God. The celebration of the Immaculate Heart of Mary highlights the intimate union between the heart of the Virgin Mary and that of Jesus Christ.
The Immaculate Heart of Mary represents her profound interior life, her love for her Son, and her docility to the Holy Spirit, which kept her free from all personal sin. The faithful often participate in novenas and consecrations to the Immaculate Heart of Mary as a way to seek her intercession and draw closer to God.
The feast is a time to reflect on Mary's purity and love, as well as to ask for her intercession for one's spiritual life.
