St Elizabeth of Hungary

Born in 1207, Saint Elizabeth of Hungary is a role model of charity, for the total donation of her assets and her entire life in favor of the poor and the sick, despite having lived just 24 years.

When she was twenty years old, and with a newborn son, her husband died in the Crusades. Accepting God's will, he gave up future marriages and devoted himself to a life in poverty, dedicating himself to others even poorer. He fed them daily, and finally he changed his clothes for the habit of a secular Franciscan sister.

Following the example of Saint Francis of Assisi, Isabel lived totally poor until the end of her life, when she was about to turn 24, on November 17, 1231.

Saint Elizabeth of Hungary patron of the Secular Franciscan Order,
Pray for us.
