Saint Francis approach to peace - Part II
Above every good lesson we coud possibly learn from him, Saint Francis's approach to peace ranks at the highest, given the importance (and lack of it) on our lives. Despite his simple and humble self, Francies found a rather effective way to achieve peace, an inner peace gifted by God, which translates to a radiant peace that reaches others, specially those others that are the most in need. And as it results, his idea of universal fraternity and entrusted dialogue is what nowadays society really needs.
Peace for us Franciscans is not just an ideal, since it was placed from within us, at the very moment of our creation, by the purest and only source of peace: God. More than avoiding war itself, our deal is to approach it peacefully, with that hint of joy that was brought to all men kind by our Lord's Gospel.
If we were to climb that mountain, as Francis did, what would we see?
Shall we encounter the peace he did?
Pope Pius XII once said:
"Franciscan spirit will renew the face of the earth and would bring back peace to the world"
Peace, as the greatest gift from heavens, and the best thing to be wished on earth to our beloved.
And guide our footsteps on the path of peace...
(Canticle of Zechariah)
