Advent by Fr Marco Moroni

Advent, a time of hope to be given. The custodian of the Sacred Convent of Assisi, Friar Marco Moroni, invites us to prepare for Christmas by cultivating this virtue concretely, especially in response to concerns about the pandemic and social tensions. "Everything - he says - depends on how in our daily lives we will have built relationships of mutual help and solidarity with our brothers"

There is all the sweetness and Franciscan essentiality in the reflection on Advent of the custodian of the Sacred Convent of Assisi. Friar Marco Moroni OFM Conv offers some ideas on how to live this waiting time in light of the concerns about the pandemic and the social tension that is rising almost everywhere. "Starting from that hope that Advent implies - says the Franciscan - even within this situation, we are called to be men and women who bring hope to others".

“A virtue to be cultivated and brought out”, he adds. "And there is so much that it is perhaps a bit stifled by the events and circumstances we are experiencing". The exhortation is to let yourself be guided by the spirit of Advent. “It is a time of waiting - he continues - characterized by the certainty in the coming of the Lord who with simplicity and humility will bring eternal joy, salvation, paradise. It seems to me that the fundamental meaning of Advent is this. After all, it is repositioning ourselves, knowing how to say: 'Where are we at this? Are we really waiting? What is the meaning of our life? What are we waiting for?'"

Friar Marco Moroni suggests asking himself a few questions, who every evening, starting from Monday 29 November, will comment on the Gospel of the following day in the context of the historical transmission of Telepace 'He is the gift - family prayer in the season of Advent' , conducted by the director Don Claudio Savio from Monday to Friday from 20:30 to 21:00 (also available for the Catholic television network Corallo). An opportunity to meditate on the path that will lead us until 24 December, while everyone is beginning to wonder what Christmas will be this year.

"Christmas has a universal and eternal value", warns the Franciscan. “So it will be the Lord Jesus' birth in our life, but it will depend on us. It will depend on how we have prepared ourselves spiritually; how we have cultivated our hope; from how, in our daily life, we will have built relationships of peace, justice, goodness, mutual help and solidarity with our brothers ”. This is the only thing that can make Christmas 2021 special. "The Message of Christmas - underlines Friar Marco - is always the same: it is the Lord who comes to bring us joy and salvation".
